Raptor Demonstration & Handling Course

Come for a fun introduction to different species of hawks, falcons and owls. This course introduces similar topics to classroom presentations, such as human/bird relationship, the predator/prey relationship, raptor conservation, adaptations, natural history and falconry. In addition, participants learn what it takes to care for the birds and have a rare opportunity to handle a bird of prey. 90 minutes, Participants 12 and up.

Raptor Camp: Come play with birds of prey!

Spend the day at our Center and be immersed in birds of prey.  Participants will have hands on experiences including feeding and weighing birds, charts, equipment making, bird training, handling & flying.  Discussions on falconry, the human/bird relationship, raptor conservation, adaptations, and natural history are included.   CRWN holds a US Fish and Wildlife Service Special Purpose: Falconry school education permit that allows participants to handle birds.

Price: $250      Ages 12 and up     Simple lunch included.  Minimum of 3 people needed.  Family discounts available. 

 

Raptors, Art & Nature

We begin with nature awareness: opening and tuning your senses in nature.  With awakened senses, teachings on raptors begins, including practice on building a trust bond with them.   From this expanded place, participants are offered the unique experience of sitting with various hawks, owls and falcons. Unleash your creativity as you draw, paint or write poetry. 3-4 hours  Bring your own supplies.  (We are not art teachers)

Ages 18 & up,  Price: $100.00    Add in handling a hawk,owl or falcon: $50.00

Ages 10-17  Price: 50.00

 

Raptors, Photography & Nature

We begin with nature awareness: opening and tuning your senses in nature.  With awakened senses, teachings on raptors begins, including practice on building a trust bond with them.  From this expanded place, participants are offered the unique experience of photographing various hawks, owls and falcons while perched in different settings. Possibilities for flight photo’s as well depending on time of year and weather.  3-4 hours   Intended for amateur photographers.  Professionals call first.  

 

 Up Close and Wild: Baby Fever!  Spring raptor encounter and bird watching

Yuba, Sutter and Butte Counties are host to multiple species  of nesting raptors.  Our wildlife biologist/naturalist takes participants into areas rich with mating and nesting raptor species to have a unique, one of a kind bird watching experience.  The day begins with our own birds where participants have up close encounters with our hawks, falcons and owls.  Raptor ID begins here, followed by the field trip to find the wild bird species you’ve just encountered.

4-5 hours.  Bring snacks, field guide, binoculars, water bottle.  Dress for the outdoors and wear boots.  Driving yourself to the field required.

Price: $100 per participant. Ages10 and up. Large Group and family discounts available.  Please call.

CRWN possesses special use permits by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and CA Department of Fish and Wildlife for all raptor activities.
